Thames Ditton is located between Surbiton, Esher and East Molesey. Its village centre is situated on a meandering High Street. Its riverside is on the south bank of the River Thames opposite Hampton Court Palace and its Gardens.

The four pubs in the village are popular with locals and visitors, especially the two that have a riverside frontage.

The local railway station, Thames Ditton is on the line between London Waterloo and Hampton Court. Rail services are provided by South Western Railways and the journey time to London Waterloo is approximately 33 minutes.
